LEGISLATIVE POSITION STATEMENT

Given that a well-informed citizenry is essential to a functioning democracy, we advocate for accurate and relevant news and information unencumbered by government or corporate manipulation.

We object to the consolidation of the sources of our news and information.

We believe the Fairness Doctrine, made law by Congress in 1959, cannot be repealed by the FCC, and we advocate for its protection and enforcement.

We advocate for news and information, free of misinformation, inaccuracy, and distortion, and relevant to the citizen electorate.

We urge the FCC to serve the public interest.

We advocate for internet neutrality.

We advocate for a progressive voice in Summit County in radio and television programming

We will monitor the quality of local news pertaining to the eight issues for which SCPD has active issues teams.

We will monitor legislation in U. S. Congress and the Ohio General Assembly, and actions within the Federal Communications Commission pertinent to these issues.
